General Information:
The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for casual Out of School Care Leader I opportunities at the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre in the South Cowichan Recreation Division within the Community Services Department. Reporting to the Child Care Coordinator, the Out of School Care Leader I works with the Coordinator to develop and implement the Out of School Care program, including adhering to licensing policies and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Secondary School Graduation.

Have completed a course, or a combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition.

Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care Diploma or other related degree or working towards acquiring your diploma would be an asset

Child Care Licensing Approved First Aid Course

Licensing requirements include: must be 19 years of age, a certificate of health, three letters of reference and a criminal record check.

Hours of Work:
Casual hours of work are set during hours of operation which are typically Monday through Friday with split shifts occurring between the hours of 7:00 a.m. ‑ 6:00 p.m. Hours of work are based on operational need and may vary to accommodate facility operations.
Salary:
This non-union opportunity has a wage range in two steps, $23.43 - $24.66 per hour, plus 17.2% pay in lieu of benefits, vacation and statutory holidays, as per the Non-Union Wage Scale (2025 rates).
