Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist, where your energy and compassion will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. This role combines front-desk customer service with hands-on animal care, offering a vibrant environment filled with opportunities to grow your skills. You will be the friendly face greeting clients, managing appointments, and supporting veterinary staff with essential clinical tasks. The office is open evenings and Saturdays so occasional shifts will include up to 8pm or Saturday 9-3pm
As part of our Client Service team, your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming clients and their pets to the clinic and helping create a friendly, professional first impression
- Checking clients in and out and ensuring client and patient information is accurate and up to date
- Answering and managing a busy multi-line phone system
- Scheduling appointments and helping organize the daily appointment calendar
- Using AVImark veterinary practice management software to maintain patient records, appointments, client information, invoices, and other clinic documentation
- Communicating appointment information, general clinic policies, preparation instructions, and follow-up information to clients
- Directing medical questions or concerns to the appropriate veterinarian or veterinary team member
- Helping identify urgent calls and ensuring they are quickly brought to the attention of the medical team
- Processing payments and reviewing invoices with clients
- Managing incoming emails, messages, records, and requests from clients and other veterinary clinics
- Requesting and sending veterinary records as required
- Coordinating prescription and food pickup requests with the veterinary team
- Supporting appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, and rescheduling
- Helping maintain an organized reception and client waiting area
- Working closely with the veterinary and client service teams to keep information moving smoothly throughout the clinic
- Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive client and patient information appropriately
- Providing calm and compassionate service during difficult or emotional situations, including when clients are dealing with a sick pet or end-of-life care
- Assisting with general administrative and reception duties as needed throughout the day

Experience
- Have previous reception, administrative, veterinary, medical, or customer service experience would be amazing
- Are comfortable answering phones and communicating with a wide variety of people
- Have strong computer skills and are comfortable learning new software
- Are organized and able to manage competing priorities without losing attention to detail
- Can communicate clearly and professionally in person, by phone, and in writing
- Are comfortable handling payments and basic financial transactions
- Work well as part of a team and are willing to jump in when another team member needs help
- Can remain calm and professional when the clinic becomes busy
- Understand that veterinary medicine can sometimes involve stressful, emotional, or difficult situations
- Approach clients and coworkers with patience, empathy, and respect
- Are dependable and take pride in doing your job well

Pay: $16.75-$22.11 per hour
