Part-Time and Casual Youth Support Worker, Richmond

Job Description: Our non-profit Society is seeking reliable and caring individuals who have a genuine desire to make a positive difference in a young person’s life. As a valued member of our youth’s care team, you will provide companionship, participate in recreational activities and work collaboratively to provide the highest quality of care. Our goal is to meet the individualized needs of our very loved family member in the family home.
Our youth is Neurodiverse with medical and developmental disabilities and requires a high level of support and supervision in their home and in the community to foster an environment of growth and self-development, while maintaining consistent emotional regulation. Our youth has a Licensed Service dog to help with Anxiety.
Our youth is kind, fun, loves to laugh and spend time with people and their service dog. Playing Lego, making arts and crafts, hanging out with friends, and exploring the outdoors are some of the fun things our youth enjoys.
This position is ideal for recent graduates, students, and those working in the field of Social Work, Psychology, ECE, Behavior Intervention, Child and Youth Care and/or other related social services fields.
Salary: $25-27 per hour
Specific Staff Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide supervision, emotional support, and foster trusting and supportive relationships.
- Promote and support healthy development and well-being.
- Accompany youth to school, recreational activities, and appointments ensuring safety and comfort.
- Assist with personal hygiene and daily care routines.
- Meal preparation, laundry, and housekeeping to maintain a healthy, safe, and organized environment.
Suitable candidates will have the ability:
- To develop strong collaborative relationships, work effectively as part of a team, and use good judgement.
- To implement effective positive behavior management strategies including de-escalation and co-regulation.
- To be patient and respectful with our youth, family, colleagues, and networks that provide support to youth.
- To develop and maintain a positive and supportive relationship with our youth.
- To have excellent organizational, time and general management skills.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 6 months education in the field of social sciences and/or experience working with Neurodiverse children and youth.
- Proof of current Covid 19 Vaccination or be willing to be vaccinated prior to start date.
- Criminal Record Check
- Seizure First Aid Training
- 2 Professional References
- Valid BC driver’s license, clean driver’s abstract, and a reliable car is a requirement for some shifts.
