Social Media & Community Engagement Specialist

As our new Social Media and Community Engagement Specialist, you’ll focus your efforts on creating brand awareness, reaching new people and communities, driving sales, and developing robust customer interactions among our independent consultant network.

Using strong knowledge of social media best practices, you’ll execute marketing initiatives on various channels. While considering overall business and marketing directives, you’ll also plan strategies to satisfy specific traffic and engagement goals.

A big part of this job will be finding ways to engage and support our consultants who run online parties, primarily through Facebook. This will involve the development of your own deep understanding of online parties, and then transferring that knowledge and passion onwards.

The best in this role will do more than produce witty Twitter quips: they’ll embody our brand’s personality, be a resource for our consulting community, and find ways to bring social media marketing in line with their interests.

Practically speaking, you will:
  • Be responsible for managing and engaging with our online community in a way which builds brand awareness, loyalty, and sales
  • Work alongside the marketing manager to generate new ideas for social content to drive communications
  • Plan social content and maintaining the content calendar ensuring social media content is regular, relevant and engaging
  • Write engaging copy for use on relevant social media platforms
  • Engage with Fans and Followers to build relationships with the community and encourage engagement
  • Report weekly on social media engagements within the community
  • Monitor the success of the community and of social media in terms of the overall marketing strategy
  • Analyze performance using Google Analytics and other tools
  • Identify industry influencers and coordinate partner market opportunities and outreach
  • Coordinate with marketing/sales department on ongoing research and strategy
  • Relay customer feedback insights gained from online conversations within the community to the rest of the organization.

Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in our Ancaster office.


Here’s what we’re looking for:
  • Previous experience working as a community manager in a similar role or alternatively a background in social media ideally from a similar industry
  • Passionate and articulate with the ability to analyze the implications of online communications and messages
  • Must have a cutting-edge interest in social media and be abreast with the fast-changing nature of social media and ensuring that new opportunities for engaging with customers are realized
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills are essential
  • A post-secondary degree in either marketing, IT or English is essential
  • 5+ years’ experience in corporate communications with a focus on social media
  • Experience developing and executing social media and/or marketing campaigns on diverse platforms
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics and similar tools
  • Expertise in both technical and marketing copy
And these qualifications will help you stand out:
  • Experience with online parties or the direct sales industry
  • Graphic design and/or video knowledge/experience
