Camp Connections is a cultural and adventure based summer camp program open to children and youth involved with social services (between the ages of 7-18) from across the NWT. Camp Connections has been an ongoing project of the Foster Family Coalition of the NWT since 2003.

JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for engaging with campers and implementing Camp programming. The Camp Leaders will assist in organizing and implementing 5 week long dynamic sessions of summer camp. The Camp Leaders will always work cooperatively and effectively with all FFC-NWT staff and volunteers.
DUTIES
Pre Camp:
- Participate in all staff training.
- Assist in camp preparation and organization.
- Assist in cleaning camp at the end of each session
During Camp:
- Engage with campers at all times; be open, communicative, and supportive.
- Ensure campers are supervised at all times.
- Coordinate campers between activities and events.
- Supervise cabin/quiet time.
- Lead activities with enthusiasm and energy!
- If you are not leading the activity, support co-workers as much as possible
- Practice discipline techniques discussed in training, redirect campers to Camp Manager and Camp Director as needed.
- Ensure incident reports are completed accurately.
- Ensure camper evaluations get completed at the beginning and end of each session.
- Attend staff meetings and debrief with the Camp Director as needed.
- Cooperate and improvise with other staff leaders.
- Help out with additional tasks as needed - there is no maintenance or clean up crew, that is your responsibility.
- Ensure breaks are rotated between staff equally.
- Be flexible ... camp brings many surprises!
- Always remember the most important part of Camp are the kids, make sure they feel that way!
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 19 years of age
- Willingness to live off the grid for the duration of each camp session (7days)
- A valid, Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate and work with others.
- Ability to create programming for children ranging in age from 7 – 18
- Summer camp experience an asset
- Enthusiasm and desire to work with children and make a positive impact on their life
- Knowledge of northern cultures
- Experience working with children with various needs is an asset.
- NLS certification (lifeguarding) an asset
- Valid Driver's license.
- Clear Criminal Record
