Role:
As a key member of the Culture & People department, the Culture & People Consultant will be responsible for supporting and consulting employees and leaders on a comprehensive range of Human Resource functions. You will participate in aligning the business goals of the organization with the employees and management of the organization and transforming the culture through creating an environment of wellbeing, respect, and a growth mindset.
Reports to: Culture & People Director
Responsibilities:
Generalist
-
Consult with all employees and leaders on a variety of HR topics such as: recruiting, employee relations, benefits and compensation, learning & development, career development, succession planning and performance management.

Act as an employee advocate on inquiries and requests; escalate issues as necessary.

Provide information and advice to employees and managers on interpretation of policies and programs.

Recommend changes to, or introduction of policies, procedures or programs based on researched best practices to Culture & People Director.

Conceptualize, coordinate and train on HR programs and initiatives.

Prepare and maintain employment letters and agreements.

Maintain updates to job descriptions in conjunction with organization changes

Act as a champion and role model toward continual improvement on company communications, initiatives and team events.

Assist with the research, planning and execution of various HR initiatives.
Talent Acquisition
-
Act as a ‘People Brand Ambassador’ by building and communicating the employer brand to prospective candidates.
-
In collaboration with Marketing, create and maintain strong social media presence to source and build qualified candidate-pipeline.
-
Perform full-cycle recruiting using Applicant Tracking and Payroll program (Payworks) from sourcing/targeting to supporting the integration of the employee in the organization.

Complete employee onboarding and off-boarding.
Employee Relations
-
Remain current on provincial employment standards legislation.

Ensure compliance with the organization’s code of conduct, employment legislation and company human resources policies.

Handle all legal employment issues in conjunction with the Culture & People Director.
Compensation & Benefits
-
Educate and provide advice to people leaders on starting salaries/wages, merit and promotion decisions using the organization’s compensation policy, structure, and guidelines.

Administer annual compensation surveys.
Performance Management
-
Guide and coach managers on the performance management program (probationary and annual reviews), and performance problem management; make suggestions for progressive discipline measures and termination processes.

Provide paperwork and act as HR representative in all termination meetings.
Learning & Development
-
Assist Culture & People Director with identifying training needs in conjunction with people leaders and recommend solutions and courses offered internally and by external sources.

Conceptualize and facilitate training sessions/programs/lunch and learns.

Facilitate soft skill training for internal training programs.
Other
-
Conduct exit interviews for all employee-initiated departures.

Conduct stay interviews as a means to retain top talent.

Analyze reporting from annual employee perspective surveys and lead meetings with leadership to review results and identify action plans.

Participate in the establishment and maintenance of an Employee Engagement Committee (Vivo Culture Club).
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a demonstrated track record in HR; CPHR preferred

5+ years of progressive human resources experience.

Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication, at both individual and group levels.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal appropriately with sensitive issues.

Ability to work independently to achieve required objectives.

Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

Intermediate level of knowledge with MS Office Suite with strengths in Word and Excel.

Strong computer literacy with the ability to utilize and leverage various forms of related software and technology.

Experience with Payworks or other payroll software is considered an asset.
