Why this role exists
PakFactory is a custom packaging platform. We connect brands across North America with a global manufacturing network, and we’ve built our reputation on the hard stuff — rigid boxes, hinged closures, magnetic snaps, and premium finishes most suppliers won’t touch. We’re now executing a deliberate transition: from a design-led service business into a true platform economy.
That transition runs on numbers. Margin visibility across a global supplier network. Commission structures that power the sales engine. Multi-currency settlement with manufacturing partners. Government funding programs that extend what a lean team can build. Someone needs to own that layer with precision — not as back-office bookkeeping, but as the financial infrastructure of a scaling platform.
That someone is you. This is PakFactory’s first dedicated finance hire, working directly with the Founder & CEO.
What you’ll own
Financial reporting & analysis
- Prepare monthly financial reports and translate them into insights leadership actually uses
- Build margin visibility across product lines, projects, and suppliers — directly supporting the margin-control work at the core of our platform transition
- Spot risks, anomalies, and trends early, and say so plainly
Sales commission administration
- Own the commission cycle end to end: calculated accurately, processed on time, every period
- Maintain and refine commission structures as the sales team and product mix evolve
- Serve as the trusted source of truth between finance and sales
Bookkeeping & month-end close
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and keep the books clean and current
- Run the month-end close rhythm and coordinate with our external accountants on year-end and tax
- Keep AP/AR tight, including supplier invoice reconciliation and payment scheduling with our manufacturing partners in China (multi-currency: CAD, USD, RMB)
Government funding & compliance
- Identify, apply for, and administer Ontario and federal business funding programs
- Own the reporting and compliance obligations attached to funding received
- Track deadlines and documentation so nothing slips
Budgeting, forecasting & planning
- Support annual budgeting and rolling forecasts
- Model cash flow and scenarios as we invest in the platform
- Give the CEO real numbers behind every major planning decision
What you won’t find here
- A finance department. You are the finance function, backed by external accountants and a hands-on CEO. If you need layers of approval above you, this isn’t the seat.
- Legacy systems and rigid procedure. You’ll help build our financial infrastructure, not just operate someone else’s.
- Anonymity. Your work lands on the CEO’s desk and shapes real decisions every week.
