Senior Cost Accountant
Landmark is currently partnered with a fantastic organization based out of Port Coquitlam, who are looking to add a Senior Cost Accountant to their team. This is a great opportunity for a CPA, or someone who has nearly completed their CPA, and has worked in manufacturing, coming with a strong familiarity of cost accounting. Reporting into the Accounting Manager and working with a strong team, this is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a challenging role with strong work/life balance in a hybrid environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Managing accounting records with a strong focus on manufacturing costing and general accounting
- Oversee the costing systems to ensure that material, labour and overhead are allocated properly to all stock codes.
- Prepare Cost per Unit (CPU) reports to support the manufacturing plants and provide recommendations to improve efficiencies and ways to lower costs.
- Review the monthly financial statements of the manufacturing plants and analyze the monthly variance reports to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the results.
- Prepare, analyze, and execute reports and processes required to complete the global cost updates.
- Perform quarterly global cost updates for all stock codes in all companies.
- Review and reclassify the WIP variances that were below the threshold and were automatically posted during the month.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong and trusting relationships with managers, employees and peers
- Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information in an easily understood manner tailoring the communication to diverse audiences to facilitate understanding
- Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work within established deadlines and time constraints
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Exceptional interpersonal and motivational skills
- Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking/innovation
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience within at least 3 years working in a dynamic manufacturing environment
- Minimum 3 years of dedicated cost accounting experience, especially in manufacturing job costing, standard cost, and variance analysis
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior business leaders, with a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing operations
- Advanced analytical and financial modeling skills, with a strong ability to measure and communicate financial performance, particularly in manufacturing cost analysis
- Proven track record as a key member of a high-performance accounting team in a manufacturing setting
- Good working knowledge of IFRS and ASPE an asset but not required
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree, Accounting/Business major is preferable
- Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent), or late stage student
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered
