Position Summary
The Food Preparer E oversees daily cafeteria and catering operations, ensuring the preparation and service of healthy, high-quality meals, maintaining safety, sanitation, and Alberta Health Board standards. Working collaboratively under the direction of teaching staff, they play a vital mentorship role by demonstrating commercial kitchen techniques to Culinary Arts students. This role also manages essential day-to-day logistics including ordering supplies, cash register operation, inventory control, and restocking to ensure kitchen efficiency
Job Duties/Responsibilities

providing healthy and effective food preparation within the cafeteria

demonstrating proper food preparation techniques to Culinary Art students

mentoring students preparing for first year apprenticeship, Skills Canada competitions and students enrolled in dual credit Career Pathways

maintaining clean and sanitary work areas

operating the cafeteria cash register and balancing daily cash

assisting in the preparation and set up of special events and catering services
assisting with food ordering and inventory management

Education/Qualifications
-
diploma in Culinary Arts, Journeyperson Cook or Baker certification will be considered

Food Safety Certification or equivalent, First Aid, WHMIS
-
minimum two years of food preparation experience
-
excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills
Rate of Pay
$27.30 - $31.79 per hour
