Asset Specialist – Hydraulics

In this position as Asset Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the development, maintenance and execution of various Maintenance Programs for Hydro Generation assets, specifically as it relates to mechanical components of hydro generating units, rotating equipment, balance of plant and auxiliary mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support investigations into forced outages and major equipment failures, using root cause analysis to identify corrective actions and prevent reoccurrence. This will include preparation of detailed reports of the investigation results and recommendations.
Provide technical support to Operations, Maintenance, Planning and Engineering personnel in analyzing and trouble-shooting performance issues and trends, commissioning, and recommending appropriate cost-effective solutions to meet performance targets.
Lead field engineering activities such as vibration analysis, unit alignment, unit inspections, condition assessments, rotor/stator profiles etc.
Maintain and enhance the corporate CMMS system to support the various Operational, Maintenance, and Planning groups.
Perform field investigations and inspections on equipment to identify deficiencies, assess condition, and complete equipment life expectancy evaluations/calculations based on findings.
Support the monitoring, evaluation and execution of the PM Program.
Provide technical direction, field consultation, and work packages for corrective maintenance work orders.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
Demonstrated experience within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of personnel.
Knowledge of CMMS systems utilized in a maintenance environment.
Thorough knowledge of hydro generating equipment and auxiliary mechanical systems, vibration analysis, oil analysis, preventative and predictive maintenance programs, equipment alignment, and maintenance best practices/tactics.
What You’ll Need:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification as a CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) or a similar designation, would be considered an asset.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience, preferably in the utility industry, working closely with hydro generating units and mech systems.
Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license. Frequent travel will be required.
