Operates and drives automobiles, up to and including large cube vans.
Picks up, sorts and delivers, on a daily basis, mail, materials, parcels, supplies, cash, etc. to and from various locations in the City.
Arranges route according to deliveries. Obtains receipt or signature for all deliveries made.
Uses computer for input or retrieval of information and records request processing.
Contacts staff and public on a daily basis for pick-ups or deliveries.
Washes and refuels vehicle as required and arranges for maintenance of vehicles.
Performs circle check inspection of vehicle daily.
Records information on pick-ups and deliveries, fuel costs, mileage, etc.
Performs other related work assigned.
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
Experience as a courier/driver.
Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class “G” Driver’s License and must qualify for the City’s equipment operating permits and requirements.
You must also have:
Must be physically capable of performing required duties, including the ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs and move pallets of product.
Thorough knowledge of Provincial and City Traffic Laws.
Familiar with location of streets in City area.
Ability to deal courteously with the public and internal stakeholders.
Some secondary school education is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have computer skills or agree to be trained and be able to apply the required skills.
Knowledge and ability to perform minor maintenance on vehicles and to maintain vehicles in operation in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations that apply to this work.
