Headquartered in Toronto, the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is responsible for investing in new infrastructure projects. The CIB’s mission is to work with provincial, territorial, municipal, federal, Indigenous and private sector investor partners to transform the way infrastructure is planned, financed and delivered in Canada.
The Manager, Asset Management, will be based in Toronto and directly report to the Senior Manager or Director, Asset Management. The Manager, Asset Management will take full ownership of assigned assets to ensure value preservation and mitigate risk throughout the investment lifecycle. The Manager will lead post-financial close activities, proactively manage asset performance and serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
This role is ideal for a project finance professional who thrives on accountability, strategic engagement, and cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience (5 to 10 years) in the asset management or execution of infrastructure (P3 or project finance) deals, corporate finance or investment banking.
Your responsibilities include
- Act as the lead asset owner for assigned investments
- Lead the onboarding of new investments, establishing robust monitoring frameworks and compliance protocols
- Proactively engage with counterparties for early risk detection and resolution strategies
- Collaborate with the Investments, Risk and Legal teams to manage complex issues such as restructurings and other non-routine post-close amendments or requests
- Oversee financial performance, including cash management and forecasting, covenant compliance, and scenario analysis
- Prepare investment updates to various stakeholders including quarterly presentations and annual reviews
- Validate funding requests and coordinate funds flow between the CIB and counterparties (i.e., construction draws, interest charges and amortization repayments, etc.)
- Update amortization schedules and operating models
- Maintain liquidity forecasts for both existing and prospective investments
- Track and maintain KPIs for each investment
- Collaborate with the Finance and Risk teams on Annual Internal Rating Reviews including the calculation of Expected Credit Losses (“ECLs”)
- Champion continuous improvement in asset management systems, tools, and processes
- Contribute to strategic initiatives and special projects that enhance the CIB’s asset management capabilities
Your ideal profile
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in project finance, infrastructure investments, private equity, investment banking, or corporate finance.
- Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Law or Accounting is an asset
- CPA and/or CFA charterholder are an asset
- Proficient in building and reviewing financial models
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with government agencies is an asset
- Self-starter with strong project management skills
- Highly collaborative team player
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor junior staff
- Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI) is an asset
- Bilingualism (French and English) is highly desirable
