Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder/Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. The Welder / Fabricator is responsible for performing welding, fitting, fabrication, and assembly activities in support of metal manufacturing operations. The role includes reading fabrication drawings, preparing materials, operating welding equipment, ensuring dimensional accuracy, and maintaining quality and safety standards. The successful candidate will contribute to efficient production flow, high-quality workmanship, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding operations on steel components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and fabrication specifications.
- Prepare, align, fit, and tack weld parts prior to final welding.
- Use calipers, measuring tapes, and other precision tools to ensure accurate dimensions and fitment
- Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, drills, saws, ironworkers, and other shop tools.
- Inspect welded assemblies to ensure conformance with specifications and quality standards.
- Repair weld defects and perform rework as required.
- Maintain proper weld appearance, penetration, and dimensional tolerances.
- Assemble components using power tools, hand tools, and mechanical fasteners
- Support manufacturing schedules and production targets.
- Coordinate with CNC plasma, machining, and assembly departments.
- Assist in material handling and staging of fabricated components.
- Rigging and handling materials with cranes or forklifts safely during fabrication processes
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Follow company quality procedures and inspection requirements.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to reduce scrap and rework.
- Participate in lean manufacturing and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with welding procedures and applicable codes.
Safety
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and safe work practices.
- Use required PPE including welding helmet, gloves, respirators, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
- Report hazards, incidents, and equipment issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Welding certification or trade qualification preferred.
- CWB certification considered an asset.
- Forklift and overhead crane certification considered an asset.
Experience
- 2–5 years of welding and metal fabrication experience preferred in attachment industry
- Experience in custom fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
- Familiarity with CNC plasma-cut parts and fabrication workflows.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
- Proficiency in MIG welding techniques with demonstrated experience
- Experience operating cranes, forklifts, and power tools
- Knowledge of welding procedures, materials, and fabrication methods.
- Experience operating fabrication and material handling equipment.
- Basic measuring and layout skills using tape measures, squares, calipers, and levels.
- Understanding of quality control and dimensional inspection.
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills for troubleshooting fabrication issues.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs.
- Standing, bending, kneeling, and repetitive movement throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, sparks, and fumes.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and fabrication shop environment.
- Full-time position with potential overtime based on production requirements.
- Evening shift / Four 10 hour shifts (Mon - Thu)

Salary Range:
$30 - $35 / hour
Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
