We are currently seeking 3 experienced Sawmill Millwrights to join our Maintenance Team. This is a key role responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable operation of our sawmill equipment and minimizing production downtime through effective maintenance and repair.
Location Requirement
This is an in-person position based in Greenfield, Nova Scotia (B0T 1E0). Due to the nature of the role and the required shift schedule, the successful candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the mill. As a result, this position is not suitable for a fly-in/fly-out arrangement.
Candidates who do not currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the mill will be required to relocate. Relocation assistance may be available, including short-term accommodation in a shared company house located near the mill, subject to availability.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will safely install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the heavy industrial equipment used throughout our lumber manufacturing operation.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and repairs on conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, and other production equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical failures and respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Install, fit, align, and calibrate machinery to required tolerances.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Safely operate hoisting, lifting, and rigging equipment.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and all hazardous energy control requirements.
- Identify hazards and report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, or non-compliance issues to management or the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
- Ensure all repaired equipment is properly guarded and compliant with applicable health and safety legislation.
- Wear and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to reduce workplace hazards.
- Work collaboratively with operators and other maintenance personnel to support safe and efficient production.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Journeyperson Millwright certification or equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
- A minimum of 4 years' maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
- Experience maintaining stationary industrial equipment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
The following would be considered assets:
- Sawmill or wood products manufacturing experience.
- Stick welding experience.
- Experience with metal fabrication, pipe fitting, pump repair, bearings and seals, refractory work, and general industrial mechanical repairs.
Working Conditions
- Rotating 12-hour shifts, including emergency call-outs when required.
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Frequent lifting, climbing, standing for extended periods, and working at heights or in confined spaces when required.
Shift Schedule
- Weekday shifts: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
- Weekend shifts: 5:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Average of 84 hours per two-week pay period
- Four night shifts every 28-day cycle
- No scheduled weekend night shifts
- Work every other weekend
The shift schedule may be modified with reasonable notice to meet operational requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: CA$32.65-$38.35 per hour, to be negotiated based on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated competency.
