Stevenson Memorial Hospital (Stevenson) is located in the community of Alliston, in the Town of New Tecumseth, Ontario. Situated one hour north of downtown Toronto, this fully accredited hospital offers 38 inpatient beds and a wide range of outpatient services. Stevenson serves a catchment area that includes Adjala-Tosorontio, Canadian Forces Base Borden, Essa, Innisfil and New Tecumseth. Position Summary:
The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is an integral member of the inter-professional health care team. This position is responsible for providing and demonstrating their professional knowledge, skills and abilities to internal/external customers through excellent patient care.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will follow the strategies and procedures established by the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO). Demonstrates technical and organizational core competencies.
The MRT ensures the care provided is safe, appropriate, tailored, timely, and maximizes the potential of the available equipment and resources.
- Performs tests and procedures related to General Radiography as well as Computerized Tomography (CT).
- Monitors/adjusts equipment to ensure high quality radiographs and ensure a safe working environment on all shifts.
- Provides instruction to patients before and during examinations and assesses relevance of the examination based on patient clinical history.
- Maintains competency in the radiology and CT examinations required and performed within the department.
- Duties are conducted in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario and the Regulated Health Professions Act.
- Supports patient safety culture by ensuring work completed recognizes the safety of the patients.
- Utilizes infection prevention and control best practices.
- Works in a safe manner and promotes health and safety in the workplace.
- Participates in quality improvement activities.
- Adheres to departmental and legislated health and safety standards.
- Communicates issues and concerns to the Director.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings.
- Attends and completes hospital/team training.
- Assists in the orientation/preceptorship of new staff members and students.
- Performs other duties consistent with job classification, as required.
- Diploma or Degree in Medical Radiation Sciences, Radiography from an accredited educational institution.
- CMRITO mandatory, MRT (R)
- OAMRS highly recommended.
- Current BCLS.
- Successful completion of IV contrast media injection course/experience required.
- Training in cross sectional anatomy..
- Proven knowledge of ALARA and radiation safety.

$36.84- $50.24/ Hr.
Compensation is based on the OPSEU Central Band and would require proof of hours to move through the band.
