We’re looking for a qualified, temporary full-time Adult Day Program Coordinator – Health Care Aide to join our Village team in Fernie, BC. Under the direction of the Community Manager, the Adult Day Program Coordinator is responsible for all day-to-day operations within the Adult Day Program including the delivery of programming and personal care services and the supervision of day program staff. The successful candidate will have related experience and has a passion for providing high quality care and support for seniors.
Other duties will include, but are not limited to:
Works directly with Health Authority Case Managers, prospective clients and their families to coordinate tours and guest visits, client screening the program admissions/discharges.
Conducts initial assessment interview with new clients, determines functional level, needs and preferences and develops a Service Plan. Ensures individual client needs and preferences are addressed in programming, meal planning and care services.
Participates in delivery of programs and services and supervises Day Program Staff in the delivery of the same.
Oversees the development of monthly programming plans and ensures programming is appropriate for program attendees. Seeks out opportunities for program integration with other service areas at the site.
Observes and assesses clients during communal activities and client-initiated interactions for changes in physical or cognitive abilities that require intervention or changes to service provision. Documents observations in the client record.
Conducts client review meetings with day program staff to ensure Service Plans remain appropriate and program goals are being achieved.
Delivers personal care services (including bathing).
Collects and maintains statistical information used to evaluate overall program effectiveness, client satisfaction and compliance with program objectives.
Leads program planning and evaluation activities.
Conducts client reviews with Interior Health Care case manager, participants, their families and members of the service delivery team to ensure the Service Plan remains current and appropriate to the needs of the client.
Responsible for maintaining financial records.
Under the direction of the Community Manager, participates in site planning management and quality improvement activities.
Coordinates staff training with Educator and maintains current, accurate records of educational participation.
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
BC Care Aide Registration Number
Class 4 Drivers License and Clean Driver’s Abstract
Must be physically capable to perform all the required tasks as outlined in the job description
TB screen and Immunization Record (including tetanus)
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet defined timelines
Skilled communicator, both orally and in writing
2-4 years’ experience in a related field

The wage rate for this position is $25.33.
Please note that this wage rate is temporarily being matched to the wage rates of the public health sector (HEABC).
Pay will also include 8% of straight time pay in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays; with the 8% factored in, the aggregate hourly rate is $27.36 per hour!
