Fiera is looking for an Analyst, Investment Analytics who is passionate not only about asset valuation but is also capable of taking ownership of the full process that includes various analytics of these investments. The role is aimed at a self-starter who can work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines with a high level of attention to detail. Must be innovative and flexible in responding to a rapidly changing environment.
The Analyst will have the primary responsibility to contribute to the oversight of pricing and valuation of all public, OTC and privately held investments across Fiera’s funds and clients.
The ideal candidate has a proven expertise in the valuations of both public and private market investments and a recognized competency in communication with different audiences. Additionally, the candidate will actively participate to the integration of the acquired or merged firms.
The Investment Analytics Group at Fiera oversees the transformation of the performance metric, risk management, valuation and advanced analytics into insightful information to architect competitive edge solution.
Responsibilities will include:
CORE RESPONSIBILITY: Oversight of the investment analytics platform from a valuation & enriched analytics perspective.
Responsible to contribute to the oversight of the pricing and valuation of all public market and private market investments that include equity, fixed income, listed and OTC derivatives, Private Placements, Loans, LP’s and Bank Debt;
Ensure timely and accurate valuation of assets under management;
Participate and quarterly Valuation Committee meeting. With supporting documents, the Analyst is responsible of providing a good understanding of potential valuation issues and bring to the forefront valuation situations
Develop financial models to assess the intrinsic value of private investments (ie. loans and limited partnership). Also perform valuation methodologies such as comparative company analysis, asset-based approaches and discounted cash flow analysis;
Collect and ensure receipt of prices from various vendors of public market securities;
Develop an understanding and participate in building various analytics and reporting attributed to Fiera’s private market investments;
Review and validate daily key quality control reports in support of pricing using various tools and applications;
Develop and maintain controls to ensure all assets are valued correctly in the system;
Continuously evaluate, identify and recommend best practices and controls that will increase process efficiency and mitigate financial and operational risks;
INNOVATION & TOOLING: Create innovative solutions
Identify opportunities to improve processes and procedures toward industry best practices;
Participate and take ownership of various projects to enhance risk controls and reporting;
Work in partnership with the Investment Analytics team to develop analytics around Private Market Investments;
Develop close relationships with the different business segments to foster the integration from Front to Back;
MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS:
Participate and assist as needed in future mergers and acquisitions;
Assist cross-functional team in due diligence efforts to identify synergies, integration needs and create integration plans;
Participate in cross-functional integration teams to ensure all relevant integration tasks are completed;
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce or related field
Master's degree in finance, financial engineering, actuary or a related field an advantage;
Professional designation in finance (CBV, PRM, FRM, CFA or CAIA) an advantage.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
2-5 years of relevant experience;
Demonstrated cross-functional leadership abilities
Exceptional organizational & time management skills, be able to prioritize, make decision with ambiguity and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Proven knowledge in valuation of both public and private market investments that include equity, fixed income, listed and OTC derivatives, private placements, loans, LPs and Bank Debt;
Programming skills are a bonus: SQL, PYTHON, C++, C#, R, MATLAB, SAS or related
