As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum two years current full-time equivalent experience on Acute Medical/Surgical Ward and/or Critical Care Ward in last 5 years. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads. Demonstrated ability to be reliable, self-motivated, self-directed, and able to work in a stressful environment. Ability to do ad hoc Projects. Proficient computer skills using MS Office – Word and Excel. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, public and the multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrates the AHS Values: Respect, Accountability, Transparency, Engagement, Safety, Learning and Performance. Proven organizational, time management and sound decision making skills required. Proven initiative and motivation required. Proven ability to cope with stress and deadlines in an efficient and effective manner. Computer skills required. Ability to access and proficiently use Microsoft Word and Excel programs.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using Medworxx, Oracle, I Request (Patient transport booking) and ESP preferred.
