Position Title: Ramp Trainer

General: The Ramp Trainer is a full-time position that will require a flexible schedule and

extensive travel. This position will support primarily Iqaluit and the Eastern Community Air

Service. Travel requirements will be relative to the incumbent’s home base.

The Ramp Trainer will be responsible for:
  • Actively participate in Safety Management within Canadian North to develop an ongoing
safety culture

  • Investigate and/or participate, as applicable, for SMS reports pertaining to regulatory and
procedural infractions in the Airports department.

  • Providing new hire staff with a station orientation.
  • Training ramp agents on all required tasks for ground handling operations.
  • Assigning all pertinent online training, tracking and monitoring for completion and recurrent
requirements.

  • Establishing, maintaining, and monitoring all training documents for each employee.
  • Completing all scheduled monthly reviews.
  • Assisting the Supervisor, Ground Operations Training with developing training programs.
  • Required to travel to train staff in any Canadian North station.
  • Regularly give updates to station Supervisors and Managers regarding training progress and
plan.

Qualifications:
  • Must have Grade 12 education and/or equivalent experience
  • Minimum one year of operational experience in an airport environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
  • Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions
  • Excellent time management skills and multi-tasking ability
  • Ramp experience considered a definite asset, particularly experience involving B737 and/or
DHC-8 aircraft types

  • Must be able to continuously lift up to 75 pounds
  • Experience with Canadian North's ground service equipment an asset
  • Must be able to communicate with people in a respectful and teaching manner
