About the Role
Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge is a luxury, three Michelin Keys, fully inclusive resort on the remote west coast of Vancouver Island, a 40 minute boat ride from Tofino. We're looking for an experienced Mechanic to join our team and keep our fleet, equipment and facility systems running smoothly year round.This is a residential role based at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge, with accommodation and meals provided, plus team and family accommodation discounts across all Beckons properties. You'll be part of a close knit team, with plenty of opportunity to explore Vancouver Island's untouched wilderness in your downtime.When the guests and summer team depart as the days get shorter, you'll remain onsite with a small team of key personnel to maintain the lodge and property, working closely with the Maintenance team on preventative maintenance and projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating and maintaining heavy machinery, including excavators, skidders, tractors and other heavy vehicles
- Servicing and repairing small engines such as mowers, chainsaws and brush cutters
- Mountain bike and e-bike repair and maintenance
- Maintaining facility systems including sewage, water, solar and generators
- Fault finding on electrical equipment, buildings and components, including alternators and associated high power systems
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic analysis across hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems
- Ensuring all tools, equipment and work areas are kept in proper condition
About You
You are a hands on and experienced Mechanic who thrives on troubleshooting and keeping things running.
- Automotive or Heavy Duty mechanic qualification, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role, with strong time management and the ability to prioritise multiple responsibilities
- A strong safety focus, with a track record of participating in and supporting safety initiatives
- A valid Class 3 and Class 5 driver's licence
- WHMIS training and a minimum of Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, or the ability to obtain OFA Level 3
- SVOP marine certificate, or the ability to obtain one
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends
- Current Canadian working rights
