United Way Greater Toronto is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Content to join our team.
How you will make a difference:
Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Donor Experience the Senior Manager, Content will lead the development and execution of United Way Greater Toronto's content strategy, creating compelling, audience-focused content that advances fundraising, marketing, donor engagement, and brand objectives. This role provides editorial leadership across all marketing and communications channels while serving as a senior writer and editor, producing high-quality copy and storytelling that inspires action and reflects the impact of United Way's work. Working collaboratively across the organization, the Senior Manager ensures content is strategic, consistent, accessible, optimized for digital performance, and aligned with the organization's brand and mission.
Content Strategy & Editorial Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of an integrated content strategy aligned with organizational priorities, campaigns, and audience needs.
- Oversee editorial planning and content production across web, email, social media, donor communications, campaigns, reports, video, and print materials.
- Establish and maintain editorial standards, messaging frameworks, tone of voice, and storytelling best practices.
- Collaborate with fundraising, marketing, communications, digital, and community investment teams to identify impactful storytelling opportunities.
Writing, Copy Development & Storytelling
- Serve as a senior writer and editor across a wide range of organizational content needs.
- Write and edit compelling copy for fundraising campaigns, donor communications, web content, email marketing, impact stories, advertising, and integrated marketing campaigns.
- Translate complex social issues and community impact work into clear, emotionally resonant, and audience-focused storytelling.
- Conduct interviews with community members, service users, donors, partners, volunteers, and organizational leaders to uncover and develop authentic stories that demonstrate impact and inspire engagement.
- Provide editorial direction, copy feedback, and writing support to internal stakeholders and team members.
- Ensure all content is accurate, accessible, audience-appropriate, and aligned with brand standards.
SEO & Digital Content Optimization
- Develop and implement SEO-informed content strategies to improve organic visibility, audience engagement, and digital performance.
- Use audience insights and performance data to continuously refine content approaches and improve engagement and conversion outcomes.
Team Leadership & Content Operations
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of writers, social media manager, freelancers, and agency partners.
- Manage editorial calendars, workflows, approvals, and production timelines across multiple concurrent projects.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture focused on creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What you bring to the role:
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience in content strategy, editorial leadership, communications, marketing, journalism, or related fields
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with demonstrated experience producing persuasive, audience-focused copy across multiple channels and formats.
- Strong experience developing SEO-driven content strategies and optimizing digital content performance.
- Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience leading content teams and managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms, Google Analytics, SEO tools, and digital content best practices.
- Experience in the nonprofit, social impact, or mission-driven sector is considered an asset.
