We are seeking a Project Planner & Scheduler to join our Project Services Department. Under the general direction of the Planning
and Scheduling Section head, you are responsible for working within project teams to develop, monitor, report, and analyze on
resource loaded comprehensive project schedules for capital and maintenance investments carried out by the Project Management
Division.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible to develop, prepare, monitor, maintain and analyze schedules, including resourcing, for the department and
division using Primavera scheduling tool.
- Develop and maintain resource loaded schedules to facilitate resource-specific job planning commitments.
- Initiate discussions with project managers and project teams to proactively manage project issues, assess deviations to the
project schedules and budget, and provide recommendations on how to deal with their impact. Communicate any proposed
schedule revisions to project managers.
- Lead the development of project baselines for progress measurement and earned value analysis with input from project
managers and the project services team including financial services, estimating, and project controls. Work collaboratively
with project team to implement a project work breakdown structure in line with industry best practices.
- Lead the development of process improvement initiatives to enhance project scheduling in the division. Based on expertise
developed through review of relevant industry information.
- Contribute to the development of scheduling standards for the division.
- Generate and enhance processes, tools, and reports at the division, department, or section level to assist with analyzing the
actual and forecast labor requirements; identify when there is a conflict between requested work and available resources and
work with staff to resolve the conflict.
- Provide subject matter expertise in project scheduling including but not limited to scheduling process implementation,
progress measurement, project performance tracking, integration with Earned Value Management system, and reporting.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain historical project information. Use information for future project schedule and
resource forecasting.
- Develop knowledge of construction methodology through the preparation of construction schedules from first principles.
Drawing upon a sound understanding of the principles associated with project management, including the design,
procurement, and construction of generating/transmission assets, contribute to discussions between project participants and
seek out opportunities for efficiencies.
Qualifications:
- Graduate in Engineering (any discipline) from a University of recognized standing with a minimum of four years' experience
including a minimum of one year of direct project delivery experience.
- Membership in Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.
