Ontario Fire Safety Plans is a growing fire safety consulting company specializing in the development of Fire Safety Plans, emergency procedures, evacuation plans, and fire code compliance documentation for commercial, industrial, residential, and institutional properties throughout Ontario. Fire Safety Plans are a requirement under the Ontario Fire Code and play a critical role in protecting life and property.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Fire Safety Plan Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in fire safety, fire prevention, emergency management, building operations, property management, or a related field who enjoys technical writing, compliance documentation, and collaborating with clients remotely.
Position Summary
The Fire Safety Plan Specialist will be responsible for reviewing building information, drawings, and fire protection system documentation to prepare comprehensive Fire Safety Plans and compliance packages for clients throughout Ontario.
The successful candidate will work closely with property owners, facility managers, and fire officials through phone, email, and virtual meetings to ensure all documentation meets Ontario Fire Code requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review building drawings, site plans, fire protection system information, and related documentation.
- Develop and update Fire Safety Plans in accordance with the Ontario Fire Code.
- Prepare evacuation procedures, emergency response procedures, and fire safety documentation.
- Create professional client packages using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Prepare evacuation maps, floor plans, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with clients remotely to obtain required building information and documentation.
- Assist with submissions to municipal fire departments and respond to revision requests.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Support fire safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews through document review and administrative support.
- Participate in virtual meetings with clients, property managers, and stakeholders as required.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in fire safety, fire prevention, emergency management, building operations, property management, construction administration, or a related field.
- Strong written communication and technical documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including:
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Ability to interpret building drawings and floor plans.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred
- Fire Prevention Officer, Fire Inspector, Firefighter, Fire Protection Engineering Technology, or related education and experience.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Fire Code and Fire Safety Plan requirements.
- Experience preparing Fire Safety Plans, emergency procedures, or compliance documentation.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PDF editing software, or drawing software.
- Previous experience working with municipalities, fire departments, property managers, consultants, or building owners.
Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
