Why is this role important?

Role Mandate:
The Manager, Strategy & Analytics (12 Month Contract) is responsible for developing merchandising strategy for key initiatives within the Discount Division and influencing stakeholders to advance the divisional priorities.

What You'll Do:
Strategy Development

Develop and deliver category strategy projects that improve our competitive position and accelerate financial performance
Coordinate the analytics and develop tangible metrics to measure success of projects and ensure tracking against targets is in place
Design and develop program/project presentations to key executive stakeholders throughout the business

Decision Support/Analytics

Support divisional team by leading the execution of analytics required to support the development of long-term strategy to improve competitive position, sales, and profit
Conduct market reviews and category diagnostics on an on-going basis
Develop methods of applying analytics and embedding them across the division

Annual/Quarterly Planning

Develop and lead analysis in support of the divisional annual planning cycle
Lead process for collecting and consolidating data required for periodic reviews with actionable insights for the division on merchandising strategy
Conduct risk assessments to inform on next steps and impacts to goal achievement

What You'll Need:
Minimum 3 years previous work experience required; retail, management consulting, or consumer goods experience strongly preferred
Post-secondary undergraduate (finance, economics, commerce)
Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to a room of senior executives
Knowledge of Loblaw systems, data sources, and metrics is an asset
Comfortability with data analytics and the ability to derive actionable insights is required
Experience with analytical tools, such as SAS, R, SQL, etc., would be an asset
Detail oriented and strong time management skills
Independent problem solving, critical thinking, and resourcefulness
