Overview
This position can be based in either Calgary, AB or Edmonton, AB.

The objective of the Stormwater Engineer is to:
Represent Lafarge and lead the marketing of storm water products to consultants and designers
Perform technical based presentations to audiences of industry peers and consultants across Western Provinces and Northern Ontario
Independently build relationships across contacts throughout Western Canada
Conduct a monthly marketing analysis along with commercial steering committee
Help create, along with local market support marketing plan to execute strategies for stormwater products.
Manage project pipeline to measure project specific performance. Update continuously to ensure information is timely, accurate and complete to report activities to commercial steering committee
Provide technical and marketing assistance to other team members when called upon.
Continuously improve technical expertise and knowledge of stormwater products, competitive products and civil infrastructure trends
Attend Engineering Association functions and applicable trade shows across Western Provinces and Northern Ontario.
Acquire and continuously improve consultative marketing and transactional selling skills
Develop and maintain professional relationships with accounts and local regulators and municipalities
Account ownership – own the client relationship and leverage support network to deliver solutions
Expected travel is roughly 60%

Training and Education (Direct Marketing):
Create designers’ interest and excitement in the marketplace
Manage Relationships with Key Stormwater Stakeholders
Build collaborative relationships with stormwater management agencies, environmental non-profits, building industry groups and other parties invested in the development of clear, progressive and protective stormwater regulations
Participate in stormwater policy development by providing technical comments, serving on stakeholder committees, and building consensus around performance-based standards
Attend & support strategic conferences and trade shows
Build personal standing in the stormwater community by writing articles and presenting papers

Obtain Product Approvals:
Work with provincial, regional and local agencies to gain approval of stormwater products including development of tailored sizing and design methodologies and preparation of formal submittals
Increase awareness and understanding of proprietary stormwater technologies and encourage development of policies that provide an approval path for proprietary stormwater technologies
Identify testing opportunities and coordinate research to evaluate effectiveness of stormwater products

Support Field Teams:
Identify and interpret applicable stormwater requirements for external projects
Assist field sales teams in securing regulatory approvals on specific projects
Provides sales support by participating in presentations and developing sales tools
Assist in investigating competitive technologies and develop strategies to insure they are understood by the regulatory and engineering community. Coordinate with colleagues to develop strategic approaches to gain approvals
Qualifications
5 Years experience in Water and Wastewate treatment
Civil engineering degree preferred or substantial industry experience that would provide technical solution development capabilities
Ability to draw out and understand the designer’s needs and help them find solutions
Three to five years sales experience
Ability to understand and derive satisfaction from a both “consultative marketing and transactional selling” styles
Ability to communicate technical information, concepts and applications very effectively using consultative marketing skills
Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Account management & project tracking
