Purpose of the Job: The incumbent is responsible for contributing to the successful day-to-day operations of the ScotiaMcLeod Managed Portfolio Program (MPP), responsible for creating and producing reports that will assist the supervision of Managed portfolios. The incumbent may also provide support for the broader Investment Solutions team in supporting suite of Fee Based Programs and assist in delivering new efficiencies, processes, and ideas to support the development and growth of the Managed Portfolio Program. This includes performing regular regulatory monitoring and supervision.
* Contribute to the day-to-day operations including; * Account and Investment Policy Statement (IPS) approvals ensuring KYC and program suitability * Investigate, report and monitor portfolio management asset allocation violations arising from quarterly account reviews * Conduct appropriate inquiries and investigations and ensures that appropriate corrective actions and/or risk mitigation actions are implemented in a timely manner or escalated. * Coach and educate Program policies to PM advisory teams * Stay abreast of regulatory changes * Stay abreast of new investment strategies and products * Track and resolve account approval or documentation issues * Proactively participating in the MPP Investment Committee, including minute taking and distribution to committee members * Assist in identifying gaps in the existing program structure and participate in developing, maintaining and implementing changes to the program policies and procedures. * General administrative support 2. Provide a high level of customer service; * Act as main point of contact for all administrative requests for MPP, including policy clarification, general program information and rejected account information.
- Use analytical skills to conduct relevant research and arrive at conclusions and/or recommendations on portfolio construction and security selection * Complete understanding of the suitability of investments from a risk and objectives standpoint. 3. Manage compliance to program policies by: * Organizing the communication and tracking of all violations until closure 4. Contribute to the larger Investment Solutions Group by: * Providing support on key product and marketing projects as needed 5.
Building effective working relationships across the team and with various business lines 6. Actively participating and contributing to touch bases and team meetings 7. Actively share knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team members * Knowledge of IIROC rules as it pertains to managed accounts Functional Competencies: Musts: * University degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience * Detailed knowledge and understanding of capital markets, portfolio management, provincial and national securities regulations, mutual funds and the mutual fund industry * Able to work both independently and as part of a team * Strong ability to build and maintain key internal and external relationships * Experience working effectively with Advisors * Required to work with multiple sources of data and multiple computer systems * Required to read and integrate extensive amounts of data and/or written material daily * Well versed on new products and how they can be used in portfolio construction Preferreds: * Level 1 CFA designation or equivalent education * Highly developed PC skills and comfort with relevant industry softwares Educational Requirements: * Post-secondary degree * CFA level 1 is preferred * Experience working effectively with Advisors * Working Knowledge of ScotiaMcLeod applications * Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite of products * Excel VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) preferred but not a requirement Location(s): Canada : Ontario : Toronto As Canada's International Bank, we are a diverse and global team.
