Overview: Pretium is seeking a dynamic and experienced Site Superintendent who is responsible for the safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery of high-quality construction projects that meet company standards and exceed client expectations. This leadership role requires proactive management, coordination, and oversight of all on-site activities, including safety, scheduling, quality, and budget adherence. Strong proactive planning, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
The Site Superintendent will report to Pretium’s executive leadership and serve as a key liaison with clients, Trade Partners, and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities are, but not limited to:
Pre-Construction
- Review project documents, including designs, specifications, addenda, and contracts.
- Actively participate in pre-construction handover meetings.
- Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize costs and schedule efficiencies without compromising quality or safety.
- Develop and submit pre-mobilization RFIs.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and executive leadership to align project goals and expectations.
Safety & Compliance
- Lead by example to create a zero-incident site safety culture.
- Conduct job site hazard assessments and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Anticipate and work to protect the site from the risk of fires, floods, safety incidents, and theft.
- Conduct and document safety meetings, daily huddles, and toolbox talks.
- Monitor and enforce job site cleanliness and organization
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
Construction Execution
- Lead on-site activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Maintain clear communication with the project team and Trade Partners.
- Lead weekly work planning meetings, including six-week look-ahead schedules.
- Coordinate site logistics, including staging, utilities, and mobilization.
- Supervise and coordinate Trade Partners, suppliers, and equipment to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to timelines.
- Schedule and coordinate required inspections.
Risk and Issue Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with provincial, federal, and client-specific regulations
Quality Assurance and Quality Control
- Maintain rigorous QA/QC benchmarks through regular audits and inspections.
- Address non-conformances swiftly and effectively.
Project Handover and Closure
- Oversee the transition from construction to operational readiness, including inspections, training, and final acceptance.
Qualifications / Experience / Skills
- 5+ years of direct construction site superintendent management experience in the ICI buildings sector.
- Technical Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- CSO Certification. Safety & compliance management
- Budget & cost control.
- Thorough knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Work coordination & scheduling.
- Inclusive & collaborative leadership & team management.
- Verbal & written communication, reporting, and documentation.
- Use of power tools and construction equipment as needed.
