Sysco Canada (Specialty Meats Vancouver) is seeking a data-driven Accounting Clerk supporting the Canadian Finance team. The candiate will provide a full range of accounting support in order to ensure effective and efficient office operations.
Ensure all invoices are properly coded and approved, and accurately and efficiently processed into the accounting system for timely payment.
Reconcile accounts payable transactions and prepare analysis of various AP accounts.
Validate vendor statements and inquiries, investigates discrepancies
Communicate with vendors and internal personnel to ensure completeness of transactions.
Work with the accounts payable team to streamline processes, reduce errors and increase productivity through issue identification and utilization of best practices.
Enter daily bank deposits and receipt reconciliation.
Any other duties as assigned.
Enrollment or completion of a post-secondary program, preferably in Business Administration or Finance, and/or at least 2 years’ previous experience in a finance and/or accounting role.
Food Industry experience is an asset.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and web tools.
Working knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles and understanding of core finance business processes.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong internal customer influence and change management skills.
Experience in implementing process improvements.
Excellent time management, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Must be detailed oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
Able to work well with a team.
Able to handle confidential information in a responsible manner.
Able to work in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment.
