Vulcraft Canada is seeking qualified candidates for a FULL-TIME SHIPPING/RECIVING HELPER in our MONTREAL, QUEBEC location.
BASIC FUNCTIONS
The role of the Shipping/Receiving Helper is to actively participate as a member of the division's production team, to ensure the safe and efficient loading and unloading of materials of inbound and outbound goods. This is a support position and while the successful candidate will be working alongside the full-time shipper, they will also be expected to perform other shop related tasks, such as operating a band saw, painting finished goods, general housekeeping, and any other appropriate tasks assigned by their supervisor. All teammates are expected to personally demonstrate that they act according to the values that make up Nucor's Culture.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety is our priority at Nucor; applicants will therefore need to be able to demonstrate their ability to initiate, lead and comply with safety policies, practices, procedures and standards always
- The safe and efficient loading and unloading of trailers using a forklift and/or overhead crane.
- Movement of materials within the shop to ensure materials are stored in a safe manner
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of all shipping and receiving documents
- Ensure documents are cross checked with purchase/sales orders for accuracy and received in the system daily
- Assist with inventory counts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and ethical standards
- Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor
- Standing for long periods, working in a manufacturing environment, working indoors and outdoors (as required)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 1-2 years’ experience in shipping and receiving role
- Experience in a manufacturing/warehouse setting.
- Experience in the steel industry is considered an asset.
- Overtime hours may be required.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- English communication skills are required due to regular interaction with English-speaking drivers, suppliers, customers, and Vulcraft teammates located outside Quebec.
