Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Skid Steer Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating skid steers and other heavy equipment to support various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy machinery, mechanical knowledge, and experience with multiple types of construction equipment. The successful applicant will contribute to the timely completion of projects while adhering to safety standards and industry best practices.
Duties
Snow Removal
- Operate skid steer with snow bucket, blade, or snow pusher
- Clear snow from parking lots, sidewalks, and job sites
- Stack and relocate snow safely and efficiently
- Apply salt or sand using skid steer attachments
- Avoid damage to curbs, sidewalks, landscaping, and utilities
- Operate in low-visibility and cold weather conditions
Asphalt Work
- Assist with site preparation, grading, and base material placement
- Load, move, and spread aggregate and asphalt materials
- Support paving operations by feeding pavers and rollers
- Backfill trenches and level surfaces
- Maintain clean work zones and assist with final site cleanup
- Ensure smooth transitions and proper grades
Concrete Work
- Load and transport concrete, gravel, sand, and form materials
- Assist with excavation, backfilling, and grading for concrete pours
- Place and remove concrete forms and barriers
- Support concrete finishing crews as directed
- Clean concrete residue from equipment and attachments
Safety & Equipment Responsibilities
- Perform daily equipment inspections and complete checklists
- Operate skid steer safely in accordance with company policies and regulations
- Maintain awareness of ground workers, traffic, and underground utilities
- Secure equipment when not in use
- Report mechanical issues or safety hazards immediately
- Follow all PPE and job site safety requirements
Skills
- Proven experience operating skid steers, loaders, excavators, dozers, backhoes, graders, and paving equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to operate Caterpillar equipment and familiarity with heavy equipment brands is preferred.
- Knowledge of construction processes including horizontal drilling, paving, and grading.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) is a plus for transporting equipment between sites.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures in construction environments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
