Position Summary
The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, planning and execution of all food and beverage operations at the Cohere Centre.
This role oversees both our Catering Services and Retail Food Operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while driving operational efficiency, revenue growth and profitability.
Working closely with the sales, events and operations teams, the successful candidate will help shape the food and beverage experience from initial client planning through event execution.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a balance of strategic thinking, operational excellence and strong people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Lead all food and beverage operations across the facility.
- Oversee catering, concessions, bars, cafés and retail food services.
- Recruit, train, mentor and schedule full-time, part-time and casual staff.
- Foster a positive, customer-focused team culture.
- Ensure consistent service standards across all events.
Catering Operations
- Work with the Sales and Events teams to develop customized catering solutions.
- Review menus, pricing and service plans with clients.
- Coordinate staffing and event execution.
- Ensure successful delivery of conferences, galas, weddings, sporting events and special events.
- Continuously improve catering offerings and guest satisfaction.
Retail Food Services
- Oversee all concession and retail food operations.
- Develop seasonal menus and grab-and-go offerings.
- Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
- Improve service speed, guest experience and operational efficiency.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Monitor food, beverage and labour costs.
- Maximize profitability while maintaining quality.
- Analyze sales reports and key performance indicators.
- Recommend pricing strategies and new revenue opportunities.
Inventory & Purchasing
- Manage purchasing and supplier relationships.
- Control inventory and reduce waste.
- Ensure proper receiving, storage and inventory controls.
- Maintain equipment and oversee preventative maintenance.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Maintain food safety standards and sanitation practices.
- Ensure compliance with Smart Serve and applicable regulations.
- Support emergency planning and venue safety procedures.
Business Development
- Identify opportunities to expand catering services.
- Develop new menu concepts and premium offerings.
- Support client tastings and promotional initiatives.
- Collaborate with marketing on food and beverage promotions.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive food and beverage management experience.
- Experience managing both catering and high-volume retail food operations.
- Leadership experience within convention centres, hotels, stadiums, arenas, event venues or hospitality operations is considered a strong asset.
- Strong financial and business acumen.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional customer service and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to lead multiple events simultaneously.
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Smart Serve Certification.
- Food Handler Certification.
- Hospitality, Culinary or Business diploma/degree.
- Experience using catering or hospitality management software.
- Experience managing union and non-union staff is considered an asset.

Pay: $72,000.00-$91,000.00 per year
