Job Overview
We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team of seven RVTs. We are open Monday through Friday 8:30am-5:30pm; Saturdays 8:30am-1:30pm. You would primarily work M-F, rotating Saturdays with the other RVTs.
The ideal candidate has a passion for veterinary medicine, enjoys people as much as they do pets and would like to work in a friendly environment where we value gratitude, communication and excellent medicine. Reception is primarily done by our RVTs so you may have the odd shift on reception but currently the reception positions are covered by our existing staff.
We are a small but efficient team supporting two veterinarians with a potential third veterinarian on the horizon. Our associate DVM is a new grad and we do have DVLC students and VMA and VT students through the year. Mentorship and teaching is an important part of our jobs. We pride ourselves on most days taking our lunches on time and leaving on time despite an often busy schedule. Our family and personal time is important to us.
Our RVTs start all the appointments, spend a lot of time with clients in person and over text/email/phone as well as doing all the usual tasks including radiology, preop/postop, anesthesia, dentistry etc. We have a full in house IDEXX lab. The majority of our patients are cats and dogs but we do see farm pets like goats, chickens, geese, ducks, sheep and the odd bunny. No need to have any experience with the farm species don't worry :) We can teach you - they all have names and are generally very friendly!
Our practise does quite a bit of community service including Kids Camps in the summer, Farm Cat Spay/Neuter Clinic in October and we run our own HLAH Rescue.
