Job Purpose
Crane Operators are responsible for moving material through the shop to its required area.
Responsibilities
- Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
- Completes daily pre-use inspections prior to using a crane.
- Follows and demonstrates proper rigging procedures and techniques.
- Moves required material to a designated location within the shop or yard.
- Maintains control of load at all times.
- Reports maintenance concerns promptly and properly.
- Attends daily toolbox meetings.
- Completes tasks with minimal NCR’s.
- Follows documented established procedures.
- Ensures wearing appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
- Maintains good housekeeping in work area.
- Reports personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtain medical attention as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Basic and Advanced Rigging Course an asset
- Coordination and manual dexterity required
- The ability to work at heights as this may be required from time to time
- The ability to work as a team with good communication skills
- FLHA Training an asset
- Overhead Crane Operator Course (internally delivered)
- WHMIS
Working Conditions
The incumbent is required to work in a fabrication shop with moderate noise and possible work outside.
Physical Requirements
The incumbent is required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.
