JK Bakery Cafe has been a beloved local establishment operating in beautiful Canmore, Alberta since 1994. We operate two retail cafes and a wholesale department supplying baked goods and lunches to local hotels and restaurants.
Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Pastry Cook/Bread Baker to join our bakery team. The ideal candidate has a passion for baking, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will help prepare and bake a variety of breads, pastries and desserts while ensuring consistency, quality, and food safety standards.
We do not have an LMIA for this position - please do not apply unless you hold an open work permit or are a permanent resident or citizen.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, bake, and finish a variety of breads, pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
- Follow recipes and production schedules accurately.
- Measure, mix, shape, proof, bake, and decorate products as required.
- Maintain consistent product quality and presentation standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of workstations and equipment.
- Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Support the bakery team with daily production and special orders.
- Qualifications
- Previous experience as a pastry cook, baker, or similar role preferred.
- Knowledge of pastry preparation techniques and baking methods.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
- Team-oriented attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Food Safe certification is an asset.

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
