Position: Restaurant Director
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer, Toptable Group
Toptable Group is one of the most highly respected hospitality groups in Canada, encompassing some of the leading restaurants in Vancouver and Whistler, including Araxi Restaurant + Oyster Bar, Bar Oso, Il Caminetto, Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar, Elisa, and CinCin Ristorante + Bar, as well as chocolaterie-pâtisserie, Thierry Cafe. Continuing to evolve in the pursuit of excellence, each venue has received significant critical acclaim, both locally and internationally.
Under the direction of Executive Chef Kristian Eligh, Toptable Group’s newest restaurant will open in Victoria, British Columbia in early 2022. Promising to deliver a seasonally-changing menu rooted in only the freshest coastal cuisine, the upscale restaurant will be an approachable full service dining experience celebrating global flavours with local seafood and farm-fresh ingredients plucked right from its location with a purpose of creating an unforgettable hospitality experience. We are now seeking a true premium restaurant professional to lead the front of house operations for our new venue.
The spectacular city of Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island off the west coast of Canada. Situated in a “sub-Mediterranean” zone, Victoria has one of the mildest climates in Canada. It is nestled amongst mountain vistas and ocean views which lends itself to year-round recreation such as skiing, hiking, golfing, cycling and various water sports. Downtown Victoria is a walking city with hotels, restaurants, shops, parks and an eclectic arts & cultural community at its fingertips. Foodies gravitate to Victoria’s wide range of dining choices, fresh seafood, locally-sourced food, craft beer producers and much more.
The Restaurant Director will spearhead the front-of-house operations for the newest addition to our restaurant group in Victoria, BC. In this senior management role, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the execution of efficient restaurant operations, as well as maintaining high production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the delivery of an unforgettable culinary experience for guests
Provide leadership, development, and motivation to the team to ensure that the guest experience is always paramount through consistent delivery of high-quality food and beverages
Oversee all day to day and event activity to ensure proper planning and execution
Ensure all fixed assets are in good working condition, and oversee preventative maintenance of assets
Develop and maintain food quality control, profit and loss controls, inventory levels, and labor and product cost monitoring
Accountable for the development of sales budgets and responsible for the successful execution of these budgets
Generate growth and restaurant sales and transactions (guest counts) through local marketing initiatives
Ensure that requirements for appropriate sanitation and food safety levels in respective areas are met
Identify root causes of gaps in guest satisfaction and assist in the development of corrective and proactive action plans where appropriate
Oversee the development of short and long term financial and operational plans
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience leading a premium food and beverage operation
An inspiring leader of premium service who has proven skills rallying a team to achieve its highest potential, and driving it to the next level
Familiarity with restaurant POS systems such as OpenTable, SevenRooms, and other restaurant management software
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
Familiarity with sanitation procedures, as well as standard food and beverage equipment maintenance
Proven record of effective conflict resolution and service recovery
Strong financial management skills
Effective verbal and written English communication skills
Comfortable interacting with the media and VIP groups, and with public speaking
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establishing cooperative working relationships
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage in a diverse environment
Excellent professional presentation
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (mobility, standing, walking, lifting for the majority of the day)
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
