POSITION: Equity Research Analyst
STATUS: Full Time
The successful candidate will partner with the Equity Income team and is responsible for the research and analysis of North American dividend and income-paying equity securities. The Equity Research Analyst will have a broad knowledge base across various industries, with some specific sector responsibility, in generating buy, hold and sell decisions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Analyze financial information to determine current and future financial performance;
Generate a sound fundamental thesis for each investment position;
Develop expertise on the securities under his/her responsibility, and support other Analysts/PMs as necessary;
Perform maintenance work on securities held within the team's funds;
Build and maintain financial models for key companies in the industry universe;
Update the team accordingly with material information (i.e. Annual and Semi-Annual Reports, AIFs, Press Releases, other Analyst reports);
Monitor operational and financial performance of the companies through financial statement analysis, management meetings, industry contacts, and conferences;
Support marketing and capital raising efforts;
Take part in presentations to Wholesalers and existing/potential clients;
Ability to present an idea to a team and defend that idea under scrutiny;
Be passionate about investing and learning about capital markets;
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Successful completion of CFA Level 1 at a minimum;
University degree preferably in Economics, Finance or Business or equivalent experience;
Minimum 2 years buy or sell-side securities analysis experience required;
Superior working knowledge of Excel, Power Point and Word;
Outstanding research capabilities: proven, in-depth analytical skills;
Excellent written /verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work well in a team environment or independently when required
