Project Manager, National Tax

The opportunity

National Tax (Transformation PMO) is looking for a Project Manager who will enable us to continually transform tax services. You will be part of a team that helps design, integrate, and implement innovative solutions to help Tax professionals drive operational efficiencies and go to market with competitive offerings. You will engage very closely with various business teams in the Tax Service Line to understand their processes in depth and help build out alternative simpler and more effective business processes/solutions. You will also be coordinating and collaborating with various local & global teams at different stages of the Delivery Lifecycle to ensure successful implementation (including Technology, Risk, Marketing & Communications, Legal etc.). Successful candidate will be creative, entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills and can see the big picture.

Your key responsibilities

Determine project scope & objectives from practice leaders and develop project plans; manage project delivery through completion, including continuous improvement
Gather and evaluate needs (business requirements) from SMEs to understand current state and develop future state, including driving ideation efforts
Brainstorm and help map out new processes
Monitor progress, manage risks & issues, prepare project documentation and summary reports as needed on a regular basis
Lead calls with business, technology, and other enablement teams (risk, marketing & communications etc.) to effectively deliver on projects
Collaborate with all stakeholders to identify and clear bottlenecks as needed
Manage seasonal operational activities for certain initiatives (such as TaxChat/T1’s)
Support other ad-hoc requests, as required to assist with delivery (including drafting communications, marketing material, risk memos or other required documentation)

Skills and attributes for success

Proven ability to solve problems creatively and thinking out-of-the box
Experience working with senior leaders and strong interpersonal skills
Strong tolerance for ambiguity and “can do” attitude with an open mind-set to oversee projects; strong organizational skills to deliver on projects
Experience managing stakeholder expectations and handling competing priorities
Self-starter and can manage own activities to get the desired result
Strong analytical and organizational skills, with excellent verbal and written abilities including creating compelling presentations
Project Management certification or equivalent is an asset
Experience in Solutions/Technology delivery is an asset
Marketing and communications knowledge (creativity and writing skillset)

Experience and knowledge

Bachelor’s degree or above in Business, IT or relevant field
3+ years of experience as a Project or Operations Manager, Business Analyst or Process Analyst
Experience managing projects and driving change management
Ideally have experience with process improvement or innovation projects (including ideation)
Strong experience gathering & drafting requirements, developing process or architecture maps, and managing projects through the entire life cycle
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills (building creative presentations)
PMP is an asset but not required
