Job Summary
The Gas Technician is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining commercial gas food service equipment at customer locations. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. As part of the Service Team, you will support customers throughout the Hamilton-Niagara region, the GTA, London, and surrounding areas while participating in a 24-hour on-call service rotation.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial gas food service equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and gas-related equipment issues and identify required repairs or replacement parts.
- Perform preventative maintenance to maximise equipment performance and minimise downtime.
- Respond promptly to emergency service calls and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
- Perform field service work at customer locations throughout the GTA and surrounding regions.
- Participate in a rotating 24-hour on-call service schedule.
- Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs performed, labour hours, and parts used using the company's computerised service system.
- Update equipment history, inventory records, and service documentation.
- Coordinate with the Service and Parts department to ensure required parts are available for repairs.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding diagnoses, repair recommendations, timelines, and service status.
- Maintain service vehicle inventory and required tools.
- Work safely in a variety of environments, including rooftops, ladders, and confined spaces when required.
- Follow all company safety policies, manufacturer guidelines, and industry regulations.
- Deliver professional customer service while representing Advantage Restaurant Supply & Service.
QualificationsRequired
- Valid G2 Gas Technician License (TSSA).
- Minimum 5 years of experience servicing and repairing commercial gas food service equipment.
- Experience in diagnosing and repairing commercial kitchen equipment.
- Valid Ontario G Class Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Clean driving abstract.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the GTA and surrounding regions.
- Must own and maintain the tools required to perform field service work.
- Basic criminal record check.
- Ability to participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation.
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical diagnostic skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to use electronic devices and computerised service systems.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently.
Assets
- Experience servicing commercial coffee and espresso equipment.
- First Aid certification.
- WHMIS certification.
- Fall Arrest and Ladder Safety Training (training can be provided if required).
- Preference will be given to candidates who hold both a valid G2 Gas Technician (TSSA) License and a 313A Refrigeration Mechanic License (Dual-Licensed Technicians).
