We are currently seeking an experienced Press Feeder to join our press team at our Scarborough manufacturing facility.
Position Summary
The Press Feeder supports the Press Operator in the operation of a high-volume commercial sheetfed press. This role is responsible for maintaining the feeder section of the press, ensuring production materials are available, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Press Operator in the operation of a high-volume printing press.
- Operate and maintain the feeder section of the press.
- Apply skid tags accurately to completed skids.
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the press during and after production runs.
- Ensure press supplies are stocked and readily available.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in productivity, quality, customer service, cost reduction, and housekeeping.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a commercial or trade printing company or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Experience with commercial sheetfed printing is considered an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions and production procedures.
- Reliable, dependable, and flexible to meet production schedules and customer demands.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Excellent organizational and basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Experience operating and supporting Komori UV Press equipment.
- Set up the press and operate at slow speed to verify sample quality.
- Mount printing plates or cylinders and make necessary adjustments.
- Remove and clean plates and cylinders at the end of each press run.
- Monitor production quality using the computer control console.
- Fill ink fountains and monitor ink colour and viscosity to maintain print quality.
