Job description
Double Take is seeking a part-time Production Associate (15-35hrs/wk) to process and price donations, provide excellent service to guests and donors, receive donations and assist with the maintenance of safe and efficient store operations. The ideal candidate will be passionate about social change and community empowerment in line with Double Take’s values, and possess the communication skills to effectively work alongside colleagues and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Back Room Training Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Sorting through donations and evaluating items for quality and condition
- Operating industrial steam press machine following all safety protocols
- Pricing items according to established guidelines
- Placing clothing on hangers and items on racks in the appropriate area
- Assisting in receiving donations with excellent customer service
- Working with volunteers to ensure a smooth production flow
- Answering phone and respond to questions regarding the store and donations, passing messages on to the supervisor if there is a need for a call-back
- Giving a positive and professional image to the public, co-workers, and partners
- Printing appropriate hang tags according to our digital inventory system
- Occasionally assisting with deconstructing or sewing upcycled garments
- Maintaining the work area in a clean and organized manner at all times
- Participating in cleaning activities in the store, back room, bathrooms and kitchen
- Conduct work activities safely and securely by following our Health and Safety and Loss Prevention policies
- Additional duties as required ensuring the effective function of Operations
- Ensuring that all tasks are done efficiently, effectively and safely
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have the following skills and training:
- The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. to lift and move boxes and bags of donations
- Ability to use tagging gun quickly while following pricing guidelines
- Knowledge of clothing brands, industry trends and competitive pricing
- Ability to be trained on computers and industrial steam press
- Excellent organizational & cleaning skills
- Ability to understand and follow written or verbal instructions
- Ability to work in a team environment with cooperative principles
- Capable of working independently with enthusiasm & initiative
- Good command of the English language
- Excellent communication, customer service and active listening skills
- Demonstrated commitment to YSM’s/Double Take’s mission and values
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends; a police check will be required
