Become a connected Director, Operations and Infrastructure
The Director of Operations and Infrastructure is a critical operational role with the responsibility of managing regional operations covering 4 data centers in Calgary and Vancouver. This leadership role includes overseeing a team of data center managers, infrastructure managers and, in some cases, key regional resources operating at different sites. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations and Engineering, you will work closely with cross-functional departments such as Engineering, Security & Compliance and Sales. The primary objective is to ensure the highest levels of service availability, industry-leading operational excellence, rigorous adherence to standards, and the development of efficient processes in regions that may encompass one or more adjacent provinces. This leadership will be integral to achieving outstanding operational results in a complex and dynamic environment.

Your contribution
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Lead a team of Data Center Managers, Infrastructure Managers, and potentially other key regional resources. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure that the team performs efficiently and effectively. Develop and execute a strategic plan for regional operations and infrastructure to ensure alignment with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple data centers within the region, ensuring that they run smoothly, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
- Develop and manage budgets for regional operations, including capital expenditures and operational expenses. Monitor and control costs while optimizing resource allocation.
- Strongly collaborate for future growth and expansion of data center infrastructure to meet the organization's evolving needs. This includes capacity planning for power, cooling, and physical space.
- Oversee relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure they meet service level agreements and deliver quality services. Negotiate contracts and agreements as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments and key partners, such as Construction, Security, and Compliance teams, to ensure that operations align with the organization's overall objectives and standards.
- Invest in the professional development of team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the department.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans to address unexpected events that may affect data center operations.
Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires being available to respond to critical incidents. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress. The role requires minimal travel (35%) to advance initiatives and visit team members across Canada.

The profile we are looking for
Experience
- 10 + years of experience in operational leadership positions, particularly in data center or infrastructure management, is essential.
- 5+ years of experience in leading and developing high-performing teams. This includes coaching, mentoring, and fostering a team-based culture.
- Experience in managing 24/7 operations.
- Experience in capacity planning and ensuring that data center resources are efficiently and effectively utilized.
- A track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including customers, partners, suppliers, and vendors.
- Experience is annual cycle planning of OPEX/CAPEX forecasting and in tracking financials.
- Experience in Contract negotiations, pricing analyses and contracting.
- Experience in supporting commercial activities such as pre-sales.
Education/Certification/Designation
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, such as information technology, business management, or engineering
- Advanced degrees or certifications related to data center management, infrastructure, or operations*
Competencies
- Proficiency in setting and monitoring performance metrics related to data center and infrastructure operations.

- Resource management, delegation and workload analysis
Technical Skills/Knowledge
- A strong understanding of data center operations, infrastructure management, and associated technologies is crucial. This includes knowledge of server hardware, networking, power and cooling systems, and data center design.
- Security systems Knowledge (access control, biometrics, surveillance systems)
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements related to data centers is essential. This might include knowledge of SOC2, ISO and PCI DSS, and other relevant standards.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety programs
