Job Title: Variable Operations Development Manager
Location: Southwestern Ontario (Travel Required)
Reports To: Regional Vice President, Variable Operations
AutoCanada is seeking a results-driven Variable Operations Development Manager to support dealerships across the Southwestern Ontario market. Reporting directly to the Regional Vice President, Variable Operations, this role will partner closely with dealership leadership teams to improve sales performance, optimize lead management processes, strengthen Business Development Centre (BDC) operations, and drive increased profitability.
The successful candidate will bring extensive automotive retail experience, a strong understanding of modern sales processes, and a proven track record of improving lead conversion, BDC effectiveness, and sales performance through data-driven decision-making. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to General Managers, General Sales Managers, Sales Managers, and BDC teams, providing coaching, performance analysis, and operational guidance to maximize dealership results.
Your Area of Focus

Partner with the Regional Vice President and dealership leadership teams to drive variable operations performance across the Southwestern Ontario market.

Evaluate dealership sales processes, lead management practices, and BDC operations to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and profitability.

Conduct regular dealership visits to support General Managers, Sales Managers, and BDC teams through coaching, training, and performance reviews.

Analyze key performance indicators including lead response times, appointment rates, show rates, closing ratios, market share, sales volume, gross profit, and customer satisfaction metrics.

Develop action plans and recommendations to improve lead conversion, sales effectiveness, and customer experience.

Act as the regional subject matter expert for CRM utilization, lead management systems, and sales process execution.

Collaborate with Marketing and Operations teams to ensure lead generation efforts align with dealership sales objectives and conversion goals.

Build and maintain reporting dashboards that provide actionable insights for dealership and regional leadership.

Support the implementation of sales automation tools, customer engagement initiatives, and process improvements.

Monitor dealership performance trends and proactively identify opportunities to improve productivity, accountability, and operational consistency.

Assist with special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the Regional Vice President.
What Are the Must Haves…
-
Minimum 5 years of automotive retail experience.

Demonstrated success in BDC leadership, Internet Sales Management, General Sales Management, or Variable Operations leadership roles.

Strong understanding of automotive sales processes, lead management, CRM systems, and customer lifecycle management.

Proven ability to improve lead conversion, appointment setting, showroom traffic, and overall sales performance.

Advanced analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable recommendations.

Experience using dealership CRM platforms and lead management tools such as VinSolutions, CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Salesforce, Elead, or similar systems.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.

Strong communication, coaching, and relationship management skills.

Ability to influence and drive change across multiple dealership locations.

Self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively throughout Southwestern Ontario.
