The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Sales Enablement, as part of the National Marketing & Communications (NMC) team, the Senior Manager, Client Innovation works collaboratively with the national Digital & Innovation team to bring to life a client-focused narrative on the disruption taking place across industries, driven by exponential technologies, to support business growth. Bringing a unique combination of both sales and marketing to this role, the successful candidate will have superior and proven strategic project management experience and stakeholder influencing skills with a track record of success.

The Senior Manager will take a leadership role in developing how the Digital & Innovation team showcases KPMG’s expertise, technology, and future focus to our clients, bringing the leader’s vision to life leveraging research and creative storytelling by working with internal and external agency resources, with an overall goal to strengthen and differentiate the KPMG brand in the Innovation space. The individual will leverage a variety of technology and platforms to effectively deliver the art-of-the-possible story to our clients and will work with teams from across marketing and the business to identify and consult on integration opportunities.

The successful candidate is results-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced team environment while displaying exceptional interpersonal, collaboration and influencing skills, and a desire to be hands-on to deliver success. Building relationships and partnering closely with senior executives and internal leaders is critical to success in this role. The successful candidate has a passion for the complexity of the digital and innovation ecosystem from startups to corporates, the public sector, and academia. A deep understanding of digital transformation and emerging technologies is strongly preferred.

The successful candidate has a reputation for thinking outside the box and transforming what one might consider a standard client presentation pitch into a unique and unforgettable experiential story, leveraging the expertise of a creative agency. They are a strategic and creative thinker with proven experience in analyzing and drawing insights from research and business data, working with creative teams, managing deadlines and budgets. The Senior Manager will work collaboratively with the members of National Marketing & Communications team to bring a range of skillsets to the table to deliver an unprecedented presentation experience for our clients.

They have an interest in Canada’s economy, want to understand how various industries are evolving, being disrupted and where opportunities will emerge.

What you will do:
Apply your own experiences and expertise to leverage a digital first, data-driven strategic mindset to inform and support the development of the national client innovation strategy and lead the execution efforts.
Work collaboratively with the Client Innovation marketing & communications team and other NMC team members to effectively deliver on leadership’s vision and goals.
Bring to life a narrative on digital innovation that is tailored to each client experience and the disruption/transformation taking place in their industry, i.e. Metaverse, Blockchain / NFTs, AI & Automation, 5G/IoT, Quantum Computing, etc.
Lead execution of client pitches to support Client Innovation growth goals.
Manage the delivery of various innovation projects ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery of quality work that meets client requirements and expectations.
Understand client business requirements, facilitating workshops, gathering, reviewing, validating, and documenting business and functional requirements.
Work collaboratively with the various marketing and operations teams to ensure the active execution of creative assets externally and internally across Canada.
Understand strategy, technology, design, and process through the lens of a digital experience.
Curate, organize and synthesize diverse and complex data sets and reports to inform CX and Digital transformation plans.
Structure compelling presentations and deliverables in logical, compelling, and creative ways to create unique client experiences .
Build and manage relationships with firmwide national Innovation, Digital and Industry leaders
Partner with the Sales Enablement and Industry teams to identify opportunities for Client Innovation impact.
Own the relationship with the Agency of Record to develop strategy and ensure delivery to scope and budget.
Work closely with vendors and our internal agency to manage and oversee the development of creative brand assets.
Attend client meetings to explore strategic issues and develop immersive client experiences to help shape and understand client issues and opportunities in Innovation.
Work with internal and external teams in conducting research/gathering insights to generate ideas for innovation with strong probability of success.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of client issues and develop a strong knowledge of KPMG service offerings to position and propose innovative solutions.
Develop and maintain pitch development schedules and milestones to ensure all internal and external deadlines are met.
Ensure compliance with KPMG Brand and Regulatory requirements.
Build a library of best practices, lessons learned and successful collateral to tell the story of innovation internally and externally.
Manage the innovation project portfolio from idea evaluation stage to testing and through to implementation, including budgeting and reporting.

What you bring to this role:
7 to 10 years of experience in marketing or Sales roles, with 2 to 3 years of experience in senior manager role, with demonstrable experience.
Diploma or undergraduate degree, preferably in a marketing or business administration related qualification.
Experience working in a marketing, digital or creative agency is an asset.
Exceptional written and presentation skills and comfort presenting ideas to senior stakeholders from across the business.
Being a pragmatic, intuitive hands-on marketer, capable of handling multiple priorities and stakeholders at once and able to act on your own initiative.
Ability to simplify complex challenges to influence and negotiate with stakeholders and translate into client-focused strategies.
Ability to identify key industry and client information (trends, issues, insights driving disruption, client-specific data, and strategic business opportunities), and ability to shift easily from one subject matter to the next.
Ability to leverage the Firm’s intellectual capital into programs that build brand and create/enhance relationships.
Experience identifying key industry and client information (trends, issues, client-specific data, and strategic business opportunities) and present marketing perspective on what will be required to meet strategic goals.
Digital-first strategic thinker with experience in content development, story-telling and digital media.
Experience in developing compelling value propositions.
Experience in leading with influence and working as a collaborative team member.
Experience working in a complex matrix-style organizational structure is an asset.
Self-directed, curious individual with an eagerness to excel and is accustomed to a fast-paced and agile environment with competing and flexible priorities.
Bilingual (English and French) would be an asset.
