As we continue with our continuous growth strategy, we are seeking skilled excavator operators to join our industrial plant team. In this role, you will safely operate heavy machinery to move materials, dig trenches, and prepare sites according to precise plans. We require candidates with strong safety awareness, mechanical aptitude and a team – focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate excavators and loaders to move earth, materials, and equipment.
- Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade specifications.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance checks.
- Coordinate with project supervisors, lead hands, and other trades on site.
- Follow all company and site safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Operate equipment efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship.
- Excavate trenches to specified depths, widths, and grades for installation work.
- Haul materials to and from work locations as required.
- Backfill, compact, and trim materials to required specifications.
- Ensure equipment is safe and in proper working condition prior to use.
- Assist in directing and coordinating other crew members when required.
- Occasionally operate light- to medium-duty trucks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite.
- Identify, assess, and control workplace hazards.
- Handle materials, mats, piping, valves, and other construction-related components.
- Perform hoisting, lifting, and rigging activities as required.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Hand or Site Supervisor.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Min 3 years as an Equipment Operator; preferred water and sewer/excavation and piping experience
- Oilsands or industrial experience an asset
- Ability to work accurately to required grades and specifications
- Must have proven ability to work in tight spots
- Mechanically inclined with strong organizational & problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather
- Previous Suncor experience (asset)
- Commitment to safety and quality
- Strong consideration given to Local Fort McMurray Residents
- This is a Safety Sensitive Position
