LOCATION
We are currently hiring two instructors, with one position available at each of the following locations:
JOB OVERVIEW
Driving instructors combine strong driving skills with outstanding people skills. The role requires a passion for teaching, a commitment to excellence, and the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
As a YOUNG DRIVERS® instructor, you will experience meaningful personal satisfaction while developing long-term career opportunities. Many franchise partners and managers began their careers as instructors.
Instructors provide one-on-one in-car training and, with experience and additional certification, may also teach classroom sessions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach students using the YOUNG DRIVERS® system to develop safe, collision-free driving habits
- Record lesson evaluations and road test results daily using the employer-provided tablet
- Provide students with clear progress updates at the end of each lesson
- Maintain a clean, well-maintained training vehicle
- Wear YD-provided apparel while on duty
- Maintain a valid driver’s licence, instructor’s licence, and City of Ottawa vehicle licence
- Provide an updated driver’s abstract annually (cost reimbursed by YD)

QUALIFICATIONS
Mandatory Requirements (to be considered for the training program)
Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for interview and selection into the instructor training course:
- Ontario resident with a valid Class G Driver’s Licence
- Minimum 5 years of driving experience with a clean driving record
- Clean criminal record
- No demerit points on driving record
We will be interviewing candidates and selecting two individuals to participate in the upcoming instructor training program.
Requirements to Qualify as a YOUNG DRIVERS® Instructor
The following qualifications are completed through hiring and training process with YOUNG DRIVERS®:
- Successfully complete the four-week YOUNG DRIVERS® Driving Instructor College training program
- Successfully pass all Ministry of Transportation (MTO) instructor certification requirements
- Obtain an Instructor’s Licence upon successful completion of the YOUNG DRIVERS® instructor training program
SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS
Instructor Training (Mandatory)
All successful candidates must complete the four-week instructor training program.
- First Day of Training: Monday, July 20, 2026
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Location: 1550 Carling Avenue (YD Ottawa Office)
After training, instructors will be based out of either:
- Orléans: 260 Centrum Blvd
- Ottawa South: 2211 Riverside Drive
Typical Work Schedule – Five (5) days per week, including:
- One weekday (9:00 am to 6:00 pm)
- Three weekday evenings (12:00 pm to 9:00 pm)
- One weekend day (9:00 am to 6:00 pm)
Please note: Vacation time cannot be scheduled during our peak periods — July, August, March Break, and the Winter Holiday break — as these align with high school breaks and are our busiest times of year.

- Selected candidates must be available for the four-week training program starting July 20th, held Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at our office at 1550 Carling Avenue.
Because the course is coordinated virtually with our head office training team, the start date and daily schedule are firm. Please confirm your availability for these dates and times.
- Young Drivers of Canada is a service-based business — our clients rely on consistent, dependable scheduling. Please confirm you understand and can commit to the following:
- Working five (5) days per week on an ongoing basis, including one weekday (9:00 am–6:00 pm), three weekday evenings (12:00 pm–9:00 pm), and one weekend day (9:00 am–6:00 pm)
- Vacation cannot be scheduled during peak periods: July, August, March Break, and the Winter Holiday break
