Silviculture Worker I

This is a skilled labor involved in the production of tree seedlings, fruit and vegetable crops in greenhouses and outdoor holding areas and fields. Candidates will be required to perform physically demanding repetitive manual labour in extreme field and weather condition, workers will be expected to ensure seeding, grading, harvesting, and plant movement activities progress at the designed capacity of the equipment; meticulously thin, transplant, weed, and grade containerized stock and horticultural crops using established procedures; load and unload shipping vehicles; maintain greenhouses, fields and holding areas in a tidy fashion; wash sort and stack empty containers; pick and assists in the movement and storage of fruit, vegetable and cone crops; assist in the erection of snowfence, field irrigation systems, and greenhouse plastic. Perform other related duties as required.

Screening Criteria
Completion of High School (equivalencies will be considered)
General experience working with plants
Experience performing manual labour
Experience working in a stationary repetitive environment
Assessment Criteria
Knowledge of plants including plant growth and maintenance practices
Knowledge manual labour safety practices
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal)
Ability to work independently
Relationship building
