Elite Trimworks Corp. is a leading supplier of specialty architectural products, including architectural mouldings, millwork, columns, wall panelling, doors, and other custom building products.
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Production Carpentry Lead Hand to lead our evening production team. This position is ideal for a skilled carpenter, cabinetmaker, millworker, or woodworking professional who enjoys working on the floor while taking responsibility for organizing people, maintaining quality standards, solving production issues, and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. This is not strictly a supervisory desk position. The successful candidate will work alongside the production team and lead by example.
Position Overview
The Production Carpentry Lead Hand is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of a production team of approximately 4- 5 employees. You will assign work, monitor productivity and quality, provide training and coaching, and help ensure production targets and shipping deadlines are achieved.You will also remain actively involved in carpentry, millwork, assembly, problem-solving, quality control, machinery operation, and other production activities as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and work alongside a production team of 4–7 employees, assigning daily tasks and managing priorities to meet production and shipping deadlines.
- Manufacture columns, architectural millwork, wall panelling, and other specialty products according to drawings, measurements, specifications, and work orders.
- Monitor workflow, productivity, quality, and attendance, while resolving production issues, delays, material shortages, and equipment concerns.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, chop saws, and other woodworking equipment safely and effectively.
- Inspect completed work, maintain quality standards, and identify and correct errors.
- Train, coach, and support employees on proper procedures, equipment operation, workmanship, quality, and safety.
- Maintain an organized and safe work environment, including proper use of PPE and basic care of tools and equipment.
- Follow and enforce company health and safety policies, procedures, and applicable Ontario workplace health and safety requirements.
- Communicate significant production, staffing, quality, material, or equipment issues to management and assist with preparing completed products for shipment as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in carpentry, architectural millwork, cabinetmaking, woodworking, or a related production environment.
- Previous experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or coordinating a production, carpentry, or woodworking team.
- Strong knowledge of measurements, drawings, production processes, assembly methods, and quality control.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, chop saws, and other woodworking equipment.
- Ability to work with Google Workspace, including spreadsheets, is required.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Ability to train and coach employees while remaining actively involved in hands-on production work.
- Valid forklift licence, or the ability to obtain/renew certification as required.Compensation
From $35.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, leadership ability, and demonstrated technical skills.
