Champlain College Lennoxville is seeking a Social Worker for a full-time position as part of a
special project running until June 30th, 2027, with the possibility of renewal.
FUNCTIONS
Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Services, the Social Worker focuses specifically on prevention, screening, and intervention with students who are experiencing, or are at risk of experiencing, emotional, social, academic, or family-related difficulties.
TYPICAL DUTIES (for information purposes)
- Using individual or group approaches, develops and implements activities aimed at helping students fully realize their potential, particularly in their personal, family, and social development.
- Participates in the development, promotion, and facilitation of workshops and activities focused on screening, awareness, and prevention related to issues experienced by the student community.
- Conducts assessments of social functioning. Provides individual follow-up with students, develops intervention plans, collaborates with various internal and external partners, or refers students to appropriate resources.
- When necessary, intervenes to defuse crisis or emergency situations and proposes possible solutions. Conducts suicide risk assessments as required.
- Acts as the primary Professional Social Worker responsible for leading Student Mental Health programs and initiatives.
- Collaborates with the Social Worker responsible for the sexual violence prevention at Champlain-Lennoxville and is knowledgeable to act as a substitute to receive and coordinate disclosures or complaints submitted to the Sexual Violence Prevention Office.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with representatives from the health and social services network, as well as other partner organizations in their field of expertise.
- Prepares and maintains up-to-date records in accordance with professional order standards and college policies.
- Performs any other related duties as required by the Dean of Student Services.
