Caltrax is looking for a General Labourer to join our Steam Rack department. We are a Calgary based rail repair facility providing tank car and freight car repairs including mechanical, blast and paint, interior lining and cleaning and valve repair. Our priorities include safety, quality and customer service and we rely on our people to help us achieve positive results under these pillars.
This day shift 6:00am - 2:30pm or afternoon shift, 2:00pm - 12:30am, position is responsible for cleaning the inside and outside of railcars and learning how to build and repair valves. You must be capable of working inside rail cars, working with various commodities and have a willingness to learn all aspects of valve maintenance and repair.
Job Description:
- Clean inside railcars including interior scraping, brushing, washing and sweeping
- Confined Space watch and Entry through 18" - 24" man-way lid
- Interpret work orders and complete thorough and precise repairs
- Assist in incineration process (burning gas out of tank cars)
- Maintain accurate records of repairs
- Valve maintenance and rebuild
- Safely and effectively operate hand and air tools (pliers, wrenches, hammers, drills, jack hammers, grinders)
- Implement safe work practices at all times in high hazard work environment
Job Requirements:
- H2S Alive, Confined Space and First Aid an asset
- Mechanical experience or aptitude
- Strong attention to detail to maintain safe work practices
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically fit; able to fit through man-way entry

Salary: $20.39-$22.74 per hour
