Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Barista/Cashier to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving beverages and food items, and managing cashier responsibilities in a fast-paced food service environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team. Prior experience as a barista or in food service is preferred but not required, as training will be provided. This position offers an opportunity to develop valuable skills in customer service, food handling, and cash management.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and other drinks according to company standards
- Operate POS systems such as Micros POS for order processing and cash handling
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently both at the counter and via drive-thru if applicable
- Handle cash transactions with precision, including giving change and processing card payments
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including food prep stations and dining spaces
- Ensure food safety standards are followed during food preparation and handling
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches or snacks when needed
- Provide friendly, attentive customer service to create a welcoming environment
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to food handling and sanitation
Skills
- Experience with POS systems, especially Micros POS, is highly desirable
- Previous experience in the food industry or as a barista is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for those new to the role
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly demeanor
- Ability to handle cash accurately and efficiently using basic math skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during peak hours
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members
- Flexibility to work various shifts including mornings, afternoons, or evenings as needed
